The idea of planting by the signs is not a new one by any means. Man survived long before there were grocery stores by timing his planting and harvesting to the position of the stars. We have tips below for getting the best results for each type of activity you will be doing in your garden and yard.

Cultivate on days when the moon is in a barren sign, Gemini, Leo, Virgo, Aquarius or Aries, and is waning, which means the 3rd or 4th quarters.
All plants thrive when planted during Pisces or Cancer, in the 1st and 2nd quarters.
Fertilize when the moon is in the sign of Scorpio.
Harvest crops when the moon is in Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, Gemini, or Aquarius.
For a full, thick lawn, mow during the 1st and 2nd quarters. To slow the growth, mow in the 3rd and 4th quarters.
To kill weeds, either with chemicals or by pulling, weed during the 4th quarter in the signs of Aries, Gemini, Leo, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Aquarius.
Transplant when the moon is in the 1st and 2nd quarters and in Pisces, Taurus, or Cancer.

The times when the moon changes quarters and enters a each new sign are noted below. Chose a date when the sign that you need occurs in the quarter you need. Unfortunately, there are months when the favorable signs and quarters do not occur together. If you cannot find a day when both sign and quarter coincide, pick a day in the correct sign. All United States continental time zones are listed so you can choose the proper time zone for where you live. If you do not use Daylight Savings Time in your area, please subtract one hour from the times listed after March 11, 2007.
